You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar — although, who wants to catch flies? Well, okay, that very relevant question aside, the principle of that old homily remains true: Pour on the sweetness, and you’ll get someone on your side in no time flat. If one of you is grumbling that it seems like kissing up, don’t. It’s called diplomacy, silly. And being diplomatic very often gets you what you want. So if either of you is having ego issues, drop them fast and slap on the charm instead.
