…My parents,
hate
the idea that
I’m working at home….

Working at home wasn’t an easy decision for me. I had to endure a lot of taunts from my parents, especially from my father who has achieved so much in the corporate world. I used to hope that I will be able to accomplish at least half of what my father has accomplished. I used to imagine myself going to work, and climbing the corporate ladder the way my father did. Everything changed when I had a daughter.

My parents, hate the idea that I’m working at home. They hate it even more when they think of all the opportunities that I didn’t grab and the money they spent for my education. I’m pretty hard headed and I just turned a deaf ear to all their criticisms. (I thank GC for this!) After two years, I’m sure they got tired of annoying me. Although my father would still tease me with “You’re a non-entity!” every once in a while. :p

I never regretted the day I decided to work at home. I can be with my daughter and my pamangkin (nephew), I don’t have to commute, I don’t have to worry where I’m going to eat lunch or dinner and I can go out anytime I want as long as my work is done. I guess the only downside is that I rarely meet new people and I’m too lazy to go out. I have Manong EJ and GC to take care of that anyway.

I guess what most people doesn’t realize is that it is possible to work at home. The world is not as big as it was because of the internet. You just have to know where to look, be patient and get the right client.
